Training Fees for Gun Dogs trained in Eastern North Carolina
A started gun dog takes on the average of 4 to 6 months to complete. A good started gun dog is steady to shot, confident working through decoys on land and water, can mark and retrieve a single bird confidently at 100 yards, can hunt a bird in thick brush, and can be handled on retrieves if he needs assistance. They have completed the Single T, Water T and swim by's. A started Gun Dog is ready to compete in AKC Junior Hunt Tests.
A completed gun dog takes on the average of 6 to 10 months. A completed gun dog is trained to the AKC Senior Hunt Test Standard. They can mark and retrieve doubles out to 100 yards, handle on blind retrieves in excess of 100 yards, and honor another retriever while they are marking and retrieving.
At RWR Kennels, we request a four month minimum commitment to ensure your gun dog has the time required to learn and master their training. The cost for retriever training is $525.00 a month.
Since we are a small kennel and have limited spacing, we ask for a $50.00 non-refundable deposit to hold your training date. The deposit is taken off of your first months training fees.
Training fees include feed, kenneling, birds and all training. There are no hidden or additional costs associated with training your retriever. You are responsible for providing monthly heartworm preventative and flea and tick control.
We strongly encourage our clients to come out and participate in training to aquire the confidence needed to handle their new Gun Dog and more importantly to have transition training to ensure your new Gun Dog has confidence in you and your abilties.
